A little bit about Hannah...
Hannah Milford is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor in Austin, Texas. Hannah graduated with honors from Texas State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. She earned her Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from a CACREP accredited program at Texas State University.
Hannah began her counseling career in 2006 while interning at the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Shelter and Roxanne’s House Child Advocacy Center, helping survivors of abuse. She continued her counseling career with Commitment to Change, an inpatient drug treatment program within Travis State Jail. There she led weekly cognitive-behavioral therapy groups, individual and family counseling, focusing on sobriety and healthy relationships to promote successful transition after incarceration. Hannah is a passionate advocate for families facing domestic violence, sexual abuse, and addiction.
Counseling and creative expression have always been a natural combination for Hannah. She explored the healing power of art while co-leading children’s groups and a Registered Art Therapist for the Deep Eddy Mural Project. Hannah spent four years volunteering with Hospice Austin’s Camp Brave Heart, providing creative counseling to children recovering from grief and loss. While in private practice, Hannah helps her clients heal and grow through innovative, expressive therapies.
As a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, Hannah reaches children using their natural language of play. She continues to be fascinated by the transformative powers of play therapy, sandtray therapy, and other expressive art therapy techniques. University-trained in sandtray therapy by Linda Homeyer, Ph.D., Hannah has been practicing sandtray with clients of all ages for the past eight years.
Hannah is currently owner and creator of Happy Camper Counseling, Austin’s only Airstream counseling office. There she provides mental health services to children, teens, and adults. She specializes in play therapy, sandtray therapy, and parenting education.
