Identity Counseling

My specialties within identity include identity loss in empty nesters, identity loss in caregivers, and identity exploration in young adults. I offer a judgement free space for you to face questions and insecurities around your identity, learn to cope with how aspects of your identity may affect your relationships, and examine different or new aspects of your identity and healthily integrate them. I help clients in the Greater Austin Area navigate these concerns and more in a safe, therapeutic space.

Identity Issues in Empty Nesters

For some, successfully sending your children into adulthood be it college, a first apartment and steady job, it is a time for celebration and full of positive opportunities. For others who have recently found themselves in an empty nest, the shift of your primary focus can feel more like a crisis of identity accompanied with a lack of sense of direction and feelings of isolation. You may be struggling to adjust on your own and haven’t received the support you were expecting or needing.

In our work together I will foster a safe space with clients who are seeking support around nativating changes in their identity during this transitional time. My goal is to support my clients, wherever they are at in their process.

When caregivers have been caring for an extended period of time and the needs of the recipient can overshadow the needs of the caregiver and this conflict between these identities can cause distress and has lasting impacts on the caregiver’s mental and physical wellbeing.
